No, you do not need an Amazon account in order to play New World. You will need a Steam account to launch the game.
You can purchase New World on Amazon.com and also on Steam.
There are two versions, Standard and Deluxe. The Deluxe Edition comes with a variety of bonus content. Details on the cost of both versions can be found here.

No. New World is set in an alternate-history in the twilight of the Age of Exploration, and takes place on the fictional and supernatural island of Aeternum in the 17th century.
You'll be adventuring alongside over 1,000 other players in Aeternum.

There are currently local voice channels in the game.
Currently, players can join any server, though you may experience latency issues if connecting to a distant server. We'll constantly monitor server performance and make adjustments as needed.
